Jeneponto Regency
Jeneponto Regency is a regency located in the South Sulawesi province of Indonesia. It is one of the 24 regencies in the province and is known for its rich cultural heritage and diverse natural beauty. The regency is bordered by Gowa Regency to the north, Bantaeng Regency to the south, Takalar Regency to the west, and the Bulukumba Regency to the east.

Jeneponto Regency covers an area of approximately 749.52 square kilometers. The regency is characterized by a diverse landscape that includes coastal areas, mountains, and fertile plains. The Bonto River flows through the regency, providing a vital water source for agriculture and other uses.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2020 census, the population of Jeneponto Regency was approximately 414,962. The regency is predominantly inhabited by the Buginese people, who are known for their seafaring traditions and unique cultural practices. The official language is Indonesian, but the local Buginese language is also widely spoken.

The economy of Jeneponto Regency is primarily based on agriculture, with rice, corn, and peanuts being the main crops. The regency is also known for its fishery sector, particularly for its production of milkfish. In recent years, the regency has seen significant growth in the industrial sector, with the establishment of several manufacturing plants.
