Jenkintown, Pennsylvania
Jenkintown, Pennsylvania is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is a suburb of Philadelphia and is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The borough has a rich history and is known for its vibrant community and unique architecture.

Jenkintown was established in the late 17th century by Welsh settlers. The town was named after William Jenkins, one of the early settlers. The borough was incorporated in 1874. Jenkintown has a rich history with many historic buildings and sites.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Jenkintown is located at 40°5′46″N 75°7′46″W. The borough is surrounded by Abington Township, and borders Cheltenham Township to the south. The borough covers an area of 0.58 square miles, all of it land.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2010 census, there were 4,422 people, 2,026 households, and 1,078 families residing in the borough. The population density was 7,500 inhabitants per square mile.
Education[edit | edit source]
Jenkintown has a well-regarded school district, the Jenkintown School District, which serves the borough. The district has one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. The borough is also home to Saint Basil Academy, a private Catholic girls' high school.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
Jenkintown is served by the SEPTA regional rail system, with the Jenkintown-Wyncote station providing direct access to Philadelphia. The borough is also served by several major roads, including Route 611 and Route 73.
