Jessore

Jessore is a district in the southwestern region of Bangladesh. It is part of the Khulna Division, one of the eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh. The district is known for its rich history and cultural heritage, with numerous historical sites and landmarks.

The history of Jessore dates back to the ancient times. It was part of the ancient kingdom of Samatata, which was a division of the Maurya Empire. The district was also under the rule of the Gupta Empire, Pala Empire, and Sena dynasty.

Jessore is located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh, bordering the Indian state of West Bengal. The district is characterized by its flat terrain, with numerous rivers and canals. The main rivers in the district include the Bhairab River, Kobadak River, and Chitra River.

The economy of Jessore is primarily based on agriculture, with the main crops being rice, jute, and sugarcane. The district is also known for its dairy and poultry industries. In recent years, Jessore has seen significant growth in the information technology sector, with the establishment of the Jessore Science and Technology University and the Jessore Software Technology Park.
