Jethro A. Hatch (June 18, 1837 – August 3, 1912) was an American physician and politician who served as a U.S. Representative from Indiana. He was a member of the Republican Party.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Hatch was born in Pitcher, New York, on June 18, 1837. He attended the common schools and later graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1859. He studied medicine and graduated from the Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1860.

Medical career[edit | edit source]

After completing his medical education, Hatch began practicing medicine in Sugar Grove, Illinois. He later moved to Kentland, Indiana, where he continued his medical practice. Hatch was known for his dedication to the medical profession and served the community for many years.

Political career[edit | edit source]

Hatch was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-first Congress (March 4, 1889 – March 3, 1891). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1890. During his term, he focused on issues related to public health and medical legislation.

Later life and death[edit | edit source]

After serving in Congress, Hatch returned to his medical practice in Kentland. He continued to be active in the community until his death on August 3, 1912. He was interred in Fairlawn Cemetery in Kentland.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Hatch's contributions to both the medical field and his political service are remembered in the communities he served. His work in Congress, particularly in the area of public health, left a lasting impact.
