John Augustus Swope (August 23, 1908 – May 11, 1979) was an American photographer and film producer. He is best known for his work as a photographer for Life magazine and his contributions to the Hollywood film industry.

John Swope was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to a prominent family. He attended Harvard University, where he developed an interest in photography. After graduating, he moved to New York City to pursue a career in photography.
