John Christopher (herbalist)
John Raymond Christopher (November 25, 1909 – February 6, 1983) was an American herbalist and naturopath. He is known for his extensive work in the field of herbal medicine and for founding the School of Natural Healing in Springville, Utah.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
John Christopher was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He developed an interest in herbalism at a young age, influenced by his mother’s use of herbs for treating family ailments.
Education[edit | edit source]
Christopher studied at the Los Angeles Herbal Institute and later received a degree in naturopathy from the Institute of Drugless Therapy in Columbus, Ohio. He also studied at the Dominion Herbal College in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Career[edit | edit source]
Christopher began his career as a practicing herbalist in the 1940s. He traveled extensively, lecturing and teaching about the benefits of herbal medicine. In 1953, he founded the School of Natural Healing, which has since trained thousands of students in the principles of herbalism.
Contributions to Herbal Medicine[edit | edit source]
Christopher developed numerous herbal formulas, many of which are still used today. He authored several books on herbal medicine, including "School of Natural Healing" and "Herbal Home Health Care." His work emphasized the importance of using natural remedies to support the body's healing processes.

John Christopher is remembered as a pioneer in the field of herbal medicine. His teachings and formulations continue to influence modern herbalists and naturopaths. The School of Natural Healing remains a prominent institution for the study of herbalism.
