John Emerson (filmmaker)
John Emerson (May 29, 1874 – March 7, 1956) was an American film director, screenwriter, and actor. He was a significant figure in the early days of Hollywood and contributed to the development of the silent film industry.

John Emerson was born Clifton Paden in Sandusky, Ohio. He later adopted the stage name John Emerson. He attended Harvard University, where he developed an interest in the performing arts.

Emerson began his career as a stage actor and director before transitioning to the burgeoning film industry. He worked with several prominent figures in early Hollywood, including D.W. Griffith and Douglas Fairbanks.
