John Gabriel was born in 1956 in Hanover, Pennsylvania. He attended Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where he played college basketball and developed a keen interest in the sport's management and operations.

Orlando Magic[edit | edit source]
John Gabriel is best known for his tenure with the Orlando Magic, where he served in various capacities from 1987 to 2004. He joined the Magic as a scout and quickly rose through the ranks to become the team's general manager. During his time as general manager, Gabriel was instrumental in building the team that reached the NBA Finals in 1995.
Philadelphia 76ers[edit | edit source]
After leaving the Orlando Magic, Gabriel joined the Philadelphia 76ers as a consultant and later became the team's vice president of basketball operations. His experience and expertise in team building and player evaluation were valuable assets to the organization.
