The New York Knicks are a professional basketball team based in New York City. They are a member of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team was established in 1946 and is one of the oldest teams in the NBA. The Knicks play their home games at Madison Square Garden, which is located in the borough of Manhattan.

The New York Knicks were founded by Ned Irish in 1946 as part of the Basketball Association of America (BAA), which later merged with the National Basketball League (NBL) to form the NBA. The team quickly became a competitive force in the league, making three consecutive NBA Finals appearances from 1951 to 1953.
Championship Years[edit | edit source]
The Knicks won their first NBA Championship in 1970, led by players such as Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, and Dave DeBusschere. They won their second championship in 1973, with a team that included Earl Monroe and Bill Bradley.

The team is owned by James Dolan, who also owns the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). The current president is Leon Rose, and the general manager is Scott Perry. The head coach is Tom Thibodeau.

The Knicks' NBA G League affiliate is the Westchester Knicks, based in White Plains, New York.
