History[edit | edit source]
The NBA was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). It merged with the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949 to become the National Basketball Association. The league's regular season runs from October to April, with each team playing 82 games. The league's playoff tournament extends into June.

The NBA is divided into two conferences: the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. Each conference is further divided into three divisions. The league's 30 teams are distributed as follows:
Eastern Conference[edit | edit source]
- Atlantic Division
- Central Division
- Southeast Division
Western Conference[edit | edit source]
