Johnny Dean
Johnny Dean (born 12 December 1971) is an English singer and musician, best known as the lead vocalist of the Britpop band Menswear. He was a prominent figure in the Britpop movement of the 1990s.

Johnny Dean was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. He developed an interest in music at a young age and was influenced by bands such as The Smiths, David Bowie, and Roxy Music. Dean attended Salisbury College where he studied art and design before moving to London to pursue a career in music.

Menswear[edit | edit source]
In 1994, Johnny Dean formed the band Menswear with friends from the London music scene. The band quickly gained attention and signed a record deal with Laurel Records. Their debut single, "I'll Manage Somehow," was released in 1995 and was followed by their debut album, Nuisance, later that year. The album included hit singles such as "Daydreamer" and "Being Brave."
Menswear became known for their stylish image and energetic live performances. They were part of the Britpop movement, alongside bands like Oasis, Blur, and Pulp. Despite their initial success, the band struggled with internal conflicts and changes in the music industry, leading to their disbandment in 1998.
Post-Menswear[edit | edit source]
After the breakup of Menswear, Johnny Dean took a hiatus from the music industry. He later returned to music with various projects and collaborations. In 2013, he announced the formation of a new band, Fierce Panda, and continued to perform live.

Johnny Dean has been open about his struggles with Asperger syndrome, a condition on the autism spectrum. He has become an advocate for autism awareness and has participated in various campaigns to support individuals with autism.
