Jonathan Woodson is an American physician, health policy expert, and former military officer. He is known for his contributions to military medicine and health policy, particularly during his tenure as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Jonathan Woodson was born in New York City. He pursued his undergraduate education at City College of New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He then attended New York University School of Medicine, obtaining his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Woodson furthered his education with a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.

Woodson's medical career is distinguished by his dual roles in civilian and military medicine. He completed his residency in surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where he also served as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School.
