Jordan Morris (born October 26, 1994) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Seattle Sounders FC in Major League Soccer (MLS) and the United States men's national soccer team.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Morris was born in Seattle, Washington. He attended Mercer Island High School where he played high school soccer and was recognized as one of the top players in the state. Morris later attended Stanford University, where he played college soccer for the Stanford Cardinal men's soccer team. During his time at Stanford, he helped lead the team to an NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship in 2015.

Club Career[edit | edit source]

Seattle Sounders FC[edit | edit source]

Morris signed a Homegrown Player contract with Seattle Sounders FC in January 2016. He made his professional debut on March 6, 2016, in a match against Sporting Kansas City. Morris quickly established himself as a key player for the Sounders, contributing to their MLS Cup victory in 2016. He was named the MLS Rookie of the Year in 2016.

In 2018, Morris suffered a significant setback when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), causing him to miss the entire season. He made a successful return to the field in 2019, helping the Sounders win another MLS Cup.

Swansea City (loan)[edit | edit source]

In January 2021, Morris was loaned to Swansea City A.F.C. in the EFL Championship. Unfortunately, his loan spell was cut short due to another ACL injury, which required surgery and a lengthy recovery period.

International Career[edit | edit source]

Morris has represented the United States men's national soccer team at various levels, including the U-23 and senior teams. He made his senior debut on November 18, 2014, in a friendly match against Ireland. Morris scored his first international goal on April 15, 2015, in a friendly against Mexico.

He was part of the U.S. squad that won the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, where he scored the winning goal in the final against Jamaica.

Morris has been open about his diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes, which he manages while maintaining his professional soccer career. He is an advocate for diabetes awareness and has worked with various organizations to support those living with the condition.
