Journal of Periodontology is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes research in the field of periodontology. The journal is published by the American Academy of Periodontology and is considered one of the leading periodontal journals in the world.

The Journal of Periodontology was first published in 1930. Since its inception, the journal has been dedicated to advancing knowledge and disseminating information about periodontology, the study of the supporting structures of teeth, and related diseases.

Scope[edit | edit source]

The Journal of Periodontology publishes original research articles, review articles, case reports, and clinical studies in all areas of periodontology. This includes, but is not limited to, the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, the placement and maintenance of dental implants, as well as the advancement of the science of periodontology.

The Journal of Periodontology is abstracted and indexed in several databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and the Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 3.742.

Editorial board[edit | edit source]

The editorial board of the Journal of Periodontology consists of recognized experts in the field of periodontology. The current editor-in-chief is Dr. Kenneth Kornman, who is supported by an international team of associate editors and reviewers.
