Just Dance is a rhythm game developed and published by Ubisoft. It was released exclusively for the Wii on November 17, 2009, in North America, and on November 26, 2009, in Europe, Australia, and Japan. The game is named after the song "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga featuring Colby O'Donis, which is featured in the game.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

In Just Dance, players are required to mimic the on-screen dancer's choreography to a chosen song using the Wii Remote. The game can be played by up to four players simultaneously. Players are judged based on their accuracy and timing, receiving points for their performance. The game features a variety of songs from different genres and eras, each with its own unique choreography.

Development[edit | edit source]

Just Dance was developed by Ubisoft Paris and Ubisoft Milan. The game was inspired by a mini-game in Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party, which involved players dancing to music. The development team aimed to create a game that was accessible to a wide audience, including those who might not typically play video games.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Just Dance received mixed reviews from critics. While some praised the game for its fun and accessible gameplay, others criticized it for its lack of depth and repetitive nature. Despite the mixed reviews, the game was a commercial success, selling over 4.3 million copies worldwide by the end of 2010.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

The success of Just Dance led to the creation of a franchise, with numerous sequels and spin-offs released on various platforms. The series has become one of Ubisoft's most successful franchises, with millions of copies sold worldwide.

Sequels and Spin-offs[edit | edit source]

Following the success of the original game, several sequels and spin-offs have been released, including:
