Ketel One
Ketel One is a vodka brand that was established in 1691 by the Nolet family in Schiedam, the Netherlands. The brand is named after the original coal-fired copper pot still used in the production process, known as "Distilleerketel #1".
History[edit | edit source]
The Nolet family has been distilling spirits for over 300 years, with the 10th generation currently at the helm. The family's distillery in Schiedam was founded in 1691 and has remained in the family's hands ever since. The brand name "Ketel One" was introduced in 1983 by Carolus Nolet Sr., who discovered a recipe for a high-quality vodka while studying old family distillation records.
Production[edit | edit source]
Ketel One vodka is distilled from 100% wheat in copper pot stills, filtered over loose charcoal, and rests in tile-lined tanks until ready. The vodka is produced in small batches, a method inspired by the traditional ways of distilling, which allows for an exceptional level of craft and attention to detail.
Varieties[edit | edit source]
Ketel One offers several varieties of vodka, including the original Ketel One Vodka, Ketel One Citroen, Ketel One Oranje, and the Ketel One Botanical line, which includes flavors like Peach & Orange Blossom, Cucumber & Mint, and Grapefruit & Rose.
Recognition[edit | edit source]
Ketel One has received numerous awards and accolades for its quality and taste. It was voted the Best Selling Vodka and Most Trending Vodka by the World's 50 Best Bars in 2015.
