Kincardine Community Hospital is a small hospital located in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is managed by NHS Grampian.

History[edit | edit source]

The hospital has its origins in the Kincardineshire Joint Isolation Hospital, which opened in August 1903. It joined the National Health Service in 1948 and incorporated the James Mowat Nursing Home in 1961. In 1998, a new community hospital was opened on the site to replace the old facility. A renal unit was added in 2018.

Services[edit | edit source]

The hospital provides a minor injuries department with a telemedicine link to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary's Accident and Emergency Unit. In addition, a befriending service was established in 2013 to support older patients ready to be discharged. Volunteers visit the patients regularly in the hospital and at home after discharge, offering emotional and practical support. This service has improved the overall health and wellbeing of patients and reduced unnecessary GP visits.
