Kirpal Singh Chugh (1932–2017) was an eminent Indian nephrologist, often referred to as the "Father of Nephrology in India". He was instrumental in establishing nephrology as a specialty in India and made significant contributions to the understanding and treatment of kidney diseases.

Kirpal Singh Chugh was born in 1932 in Patti, a town in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab, India. He pursued his medical education at the Government Medical College, Amritsar, where he completed his MBBS degree. He further specialized in internal medicine and later developed a keen interest in nephrology, a field that was in its nascent stages in India at the time.
