Lambdatorquevirus

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Lambdatorquevirus is a genus of viruses in the family Anelloviridae. Viruses in Lambdatorquevirus are non-enveloped, with icosahedral and Round geometries, and T=1 symmetry. The diameter is around 17-20 nm. Genomes are circular, around 2.1-3.8kb in length. The genome codes for 3 proteins.

Structure[edit | edit source]

Viruses in Lambdatorquevirus are non-enveloped, with icosahedral and round geometries, and T=1 symmetry. The diameter is around 17-20 nm. The genome is circular, around 2.1-3.8kb in length. The genome has 3 open reading frames.

Life Cycle[edit | edit source]

Viral replication is cytoplasmic. Entry into the host cell is achieved by penetration into the host cell. Replication follows the ssDNA rolling circle model. DNA-templated transcription, with some alternative splicing mechanism is the method of transcription. The virus exits the host cell by budding, and tubule-guided viral movement. Humans and animals serve as the natural host.

Clinical[edit | edit source]

The clinical relevance of Lambdatorquevirus is currently under investigation. Some studies suggest a possible association with human disease, but more research is needed to confirm these findings.
