Lander, Wyoming is a city in Fremont County, Wyoming, United States. It is the county seat of Fremont County and is located in the central part of the state. The city is named after Frederick W. Lander, a transcontinental explorer who surveyed the area in the mid-19th century.

Lander was established in 1884 and has a rich history tied to the American Old West. The city was originally a stop on the Oregon Trail and later became a hub for the Union Pacific Railroad. The arrival of the railroad spurred economic growth and development in the area.

Lander is situated at the base of the Wind River Range and is known for its scenic beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities. The city covers an area of approximately 4.67 square miles (12.1 km²) and is located at an elevation of 5,358 feet (1,633 meters) above sea level.
