Laurel County is a limited dry county, meaning that sale of alcohol in the county is prohibited, except in certain areas as voted on by the residents of the area. In the county-wide vote in 2016, by a vote of 9,577 to 5,651, beer, wine, and liquor sales were approved for off-premises consumption.
