Leah Vukmir
Leah Vukmir (born April 26, 1958) is an American politician and nurse who served as a member of the Wisconsin State Senate from 2011 to 2019. She represented the 5th district, which includes parts of Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. Vukmir is a member of the Republican Party.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Leah Vukmir was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She attended Brookfield East High School and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marquette University. She also holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Nursing[edit | edit source]
Before entering politics, Vukmir worked as a registered nurse and a clinical nurse specialist. She has been involved in various healthcare organizations and has advocated for healthcare policy reforms.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Vukmir began her political career in the Wisconsin State Assembly, where she served from 2003 to 2011. She was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate in 2010 and served until 2019. During her tenure, she was known for her conservative stance on various issues, including healthcare, education, and fiscal policy.
Wisconsin State Assembly[edit | edit source]
In the Wisconsin State Assembly, Vukmir represented the 14th district. She was a member of several committees, including the Health Committee and the Education Committee.
Wisconsin State Senate[edit | edit source]
In the Wisconsin State Senate, Vukmir served on the Joint Finance Committee and was the chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. She was also a member of the Senate Education Committee and the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee.
2018 U.S. Senate Campaign[edit | edit source]
In 2018, Vukmir ran for the United States Senate but was defeated by the incumbent, Tammy Baldwin. Her campaign focused on issues such as healthcare reform, tax cuts, and reducing government regulations.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Leah Vukmir is married and has two children. She resides in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
