Learning Ally
Learning Ally is a non-profit organization in the United States that provides resources for individuals with print disabilities, such as dyslexia, visual impairment, and other learning disabilities. The organization was originally founded in 1948 as Recording for the Blind (RFB) and has since expanded its mission to support a broader range of learning challenges.
History[edit | edit source]
Learning Ally was established in 1948 by Anne T. Macdonald, a member of the New York Public Library's Women's Auxiliary. The organization initially focused on providing recorded textbooks for World War II veterans who had lost their sight. Over the years, the organization expanded its services to include individuals with other types of print disabilities.
In 1995, the organization changed its name to Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D) to reflect its broader mission. In 2011, it rebranded again to Learning Ally to better represent its commitment to supporting all individuals with learning disabilities.
