Leicester Mercury

Leicester Mercury is a British regional newspaper for the city of Leicester and the surrounding areas. It was established in 1874 and is one of the United Kingdom's oldest newspapers. The Leicester Mercury is published by Reach plc, a British newspaper, magazine and digital publisher.

The Leicester Mercury was first published on 31 January 1874. The newspaper was originally a four-page broadsheet, published on Saturdays. In its early years, the newspaper covered national as well as regional news. In 1879, the paper expanded to six pages and became a daily publication.

The Leicester Mercury covers a wide range of topics, including news, sport, business, jobs, lifestyle, and entertainment. It also features a regular column by the newspaper's editor. The newspaper is known for its in-depth coverage of Leicester City F.C., the city's football team.

In addition to its print edition, the Leicester Mercury has a strong digital presence.
