Broughton began his ministry in Atlanta, Georgia, where he founded the Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1898. Under his leadership, the church grew rapidly and became one of the most influential Baptist congregations in the region. Broughton was known for his powerful sermons and innovative approach to ministry, which included the establishment of various social services and outreach programs.

Medical Career

In addition to his work as a minister, Broughton was also a practicing physician. He believed in the integration of physical and spiritual health and often provided medical care to his congregation. Broughton founded the Tabernacle Infirmary, which later became the Georgia Baptist Hospital.
