Leonard Firestone
Leonard Firestone (June 10, 1907 – December 24, 1996) was an American industrialist and diplomat. He was a prominent figure in the tire manufacturing industry and played a significant role in the expansion of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. He also served as the United States Ambassador to Belgium.

Leonard Firestone was born in Akron, Ohio, the son of Harvey S. Firestone, the founder of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, and Idabelle Smith Firestone. He attended Princeton University, where he graduated with a degree in economics.

Firestone Tire and Rubber Company[edit | edit source]
After completing his education, Leonard joined the family business, the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. He held various positions within the company and was instrumental in its growth and expansion. Under his leadership, the company diversified its product line and expanded its operations internationally.
Diplomatic Career[edit | edit source]
In 1974, Leonard Firestone was appointed as the United States Ambassador to Belgium by President Gerald Ford. He served in this capacity until 1976. During his tenure, he worked to strengthen the economic and political ties between the United States and Belgium.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Leonard Firestone was married to Polly Curtis Firestone. The couple had three children. He was known for his philanthropic efforts and was actively involved in various charitable organizations.
Death[edit | edit source]
Leonard Firestone passed away on December 24, 1996, in Santa Barbara, California.
