Lewis County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,582. Its county seat is Hohenwald. The county is named for Meriwether Lewis, of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, who died and was buried at Grinder's Stand in 1809.

Lewis County was created in 1843 from parts of Hickman, Lawrence, Maury, and Wayne counties. The county was named in honor of Meriwether Lewis, who died under mysterious circumstances at an inn on the Natchez Trace.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 282 square miles (730 km²), of which 282 square miles (730 km²) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km²) (0.04%) is water.

As of the 2020 census, there were 12,582 people, 4,872 households, and 3,456 families residing in the county. The population density was 45 people per square mile (17/km²). There were 5,432 housing units at an average density of 19 per square mile (7/km²).
