Lindsay Roy
Lindsay Roy (born 19 January 1949) is a Scottish Labour Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Glenrothes from 2008 to 2015.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Lindsay Roy was born in Cardenden, Fife, Scotland. He attended Kirkcaldy High School and later graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Education.
Career[edit | edit source]
Before entering politics, Roy had a distinguished career in education. He served as the headteacher of Inverkeithing High School and later Kirkcaldy High School. His contributions to education were widely recognized, and he was awarded an OBE for his services.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Roy was selected as the Labour candidate for the Glenrothes by-election in 2008, following the death of the sitting MP, John MacDougall. He won the by-election and was subsequently re-elected in the 2010 general election.
During his time in Parliament, Roy was known for his work on various committees, including the Scottish Affairs Select Committee and the Education Select Committee. He was also an advocate for local issues in Glenrothes, focusing on economic development and public services.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Lindsay Roy is married and has two children. He is an avid supporter of Raith Rovers F.C., a football club based in Kirkcaldy.
Retirement[edit | edit source]
Roy announced his retirement from politics prior to the 2015 general election. He was succeeded by Peter Grant of the Scottish National Party.

Roy is remembered for his dedication to both education and public service. His tenure as an MP was marked by his commitment to his constituents and his efforts to improve local infrastructure and services.
