Anatomy

In anatomy, the term lingual is used to refer to parts that are close to or on the side of the tongue. For example, the lingual artery is a blood vessel that supplies blood to the tongue. In dentistry, lingual refers to the side of the teeth that faces the tongue. The lingual surface of the teeth is the side that comes into contact with the tongue. Lingual braces are a type of orthodontic treatment where the braces are bonded to the lingual surface of the teeth.
