Lionel Aldridge

Lionel Aldridge (February 14, 1941 – February 12, 1998) was an American professional football player who played as a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He was born in Angeles City, Philippines.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Aldridge was raised in Plainfield, New Jersey and attended Plainfield High School. He later went on to play college football at Utah State University.

Professional Career[edit | edit source]

Aldridge was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 1963 NFL Draft. He played for the Packers from 1963 to 1971 and was a key member of the team that won the first two Super Bowls. Aldridge was known for his exceptional pass-rushing skills and was a crucial part of the Packers' defense during his tenure with the team.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Outside of football, Aldridge was also involved in various charitable activities, including working with organizations that supported individuals with mental health issues.

Later Years and Legacy[edit | edit source]

After retiring from professional football, Aldridge faced personal challenges related to his mental health. He later became an advocate for mental health awareness and spoke openly about his own struggles. Aldridge passed away on February 12, 1998, just two days before his 57th birthday.
