Lisa Gordon-Hagerty is an American nuclear security expert who served as the Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) from February 2018 to November 2020. She was the first woman to hold this position. Gordon-Hagerty has a background in nuclear weapons policy and security.

Lisa Gordon-Hagerty earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Rochester. She later obtained a Master of Science degree in Health Physics from the University of Michigan.

Career[edit | edit source]

Gordon-Hagerty began her career in the field of nuclear security at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. She held various positions within the Department of Energy, focusing on nuclear security and nonproliferation efforts. In 2018, she was appointed by President Donald Trump to lead the NNSA.

During her tenure at the NNSA, Gordon-Hagerty oversaw the agency's efforts to maintain the safety, security, and effectiveness of the United States' nuclear weapons stockpile. She also worked to strengthen international partnerships to prevent nuclear proliferation.
