The state of Utah has a variety of official symbols as designated by the Utah State Legislature. These symbols represent the cultural heritage and natural treasures of the state.

State Amphibian[edit | edit source]

The Columbia spotted frog (Rana luteiventris) was designated as the state amphibian in 1997.

State Bird[edit | edit source]

The California gull (Larus californicus) was designated as the state bird in 1955.

State Dinosaur[edit | edit source]

The Utahraptor (Utahraptor ostrommaysorum) was designated as the state dinosaur in 2018.

State Fish[edit | edit source]

The Bonneville cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarkii utah) was designated as the state fish in 1997.

State Flower[edit | edit source]

The Sego lily (Calochortus nuttallii) was designated as the state flower in 1911.

State Fossil[edit | edit source]

The Allosaurus was designated as the state fossil in 1988.

State Grass[edit | edit source]

The Indian ricegrass (Achnatherum hymenoides) was designated as the state grass in 1990.

State Insect[edit | edit source]

The Honey bee (Apis mellifera) was designated as the state insect in 1983.

State Mammal[edit | edit source]

The Rocky Mountain elk (Cervus canadensis) was designated as the state mammal in 1971.

The Gila monster (Heloderma suspectum) was designated as the state reptile in 2019.

State Tree[edit | edit source]

The Quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides) was designated as the state tree in 2014.

State Beverage[edit | edit source]

Milk was designated as the state beverage in 1997.

State Colors[edit | edit source]

The state colors are Black, White, and Blue.

State Dance[edit | edit source]

The Square dance was designated as the state dance in 1994.

The Browning M1911 was designated as the state firearm in 2011.

Dubhe was designated as the state star in 1996.

The Utah State Tartan was designated as the state tartan in 1996.
