List of iPad models

List of iPad models is a comprehensive catalog of the various iPad models that have been released by Apple Inc. since the product's inception in 2010. The iPad is a line of tablet computers designed, developed and marketed by Apple, which run the iOS and iPadOS mobile operating systems.

First Generation iPad[edit | edit source]

The first generation iPad was released on April 3, 2010. It featured a 9.7-inch display, a single-core 1 GHz processor, and was available with 16, 32, or 64 GB of internal storage.

iPad 2[edit | edit source]

The iPad 2 was unveiled on March 2, 2011. It was thinner and lighter than its predecessor and featured a dual-core processor and a front-facing camera.

iPad (3rd generation)[edit | edit source]

The third generation iPad was announced on March 7, 2012. It introduced a Retina Display, the new Apple A5X chip with a quad-core graphics processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and 1080p video recording.

iPad (4th generation)[edit | edit source]

The fourth generation iPad was announced on October 23, 2012. It featured the new Apple A6X chip and the Lightning connector.

iPad Air[edit | edit source]

The iPad Air was announced on October 22, 2013. It was thinner and lighter than the fourth generation iPad and featured the Apple A7 chip.

iPad Air 2[edit | edit source]

The iPad Air 2 was unveiled on October 16, 2014. It was even thinner than the iPad Air and featured the Apple A8X chip and the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

iPad Pro[edit | edit source]

The iPad Pro line was announced on September 9, 2015. It includes models with 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, 11-inch, and 12.9-inch displays. The iPad Pro models feature various Apple chips, from the A9X in the first generation models to the M1 in the fifth generation.

iPad Mini[edit | edit source]

The iPad Mini line was announced on October 23, 2012. It features a smaller 7.9-inch display. The latest model, the iPad Mini 6, features the Apple A15 Bionic chip.

iPad (5th generation) to iPad (9th generation)[edit | edit source]

The fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth generation iPads were released between 2017 and 2021. They continue the original 9.7-inch form factor, with the seventh, eighth, and ninth generations increasing the display size to 10.2 inches.
