Jacques Cousteau[edit | edit source]

Jacques Cousteau was a French naval officer, explorer, conservationist, filmmaker, innovator, scientist, photographer, author and researcher who studied the sea and all forms of life in water. He co-developed the Aqua-Lung, pioneered marine conservation and was a member of the Académie française.

Sylvia Earle[edit | edit source]

Sylvia Earle is an American marine biologist, explorer, author, and lecturer. She has been a National Geographic explorer-in-residence since 1998. Earle was the first female chief scientist of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and was named by Time Magazine as its first Hero for the Planet in 1998.

Lloyd Bridges was an American film, stage and television actor who starred in a number of television series and appeared in more than 150 feature films. He is best known for his role in the television series Sea Hunt, where he played the character Mike Nelson, a scuba diver.

James Cameron[edit | edit source]

James Cameron is a Canadian filmmaker, environmentalist, and explorer. After working on his films, Cameron began a project to dive to the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the ocean, in the Deepsea Challenger submersible.
