This is a list of water-related charities, charitable organizations working around the world on problems related to water provision, water sanitation, water quality, access to water, and related topics.

• ACTS, a Canadian-based water charity has been providing clean water to Uganda for the past 20 years through Gravity Flow Systems.
• 28Bold Every well dug by 28Bold uses local well drillers to bring money into the economy, and are drilled on the property of local churches, creating a starting point for ministry.
• The Ann Campana Judge Foundation Established July 2002. Promotes, undertakes, supports, and funds philanthropic projects focused on portable water, sanitation, and health initiatives in developing countries.
• Blood: Water Mission Launched first project in 2005. Working to empower communities to fight against HIV/AIDS and the water crisis in Africa. Its core values are community, responsibility, integrity, dignity, and teachability.
• Blue Planet Network Active since 2002. Connects funders, NGOs, the public and communities in need to improve planning, selection, management, and monitoring of water/sanitation programs, which allows for lasting impact at a lower cost.
• CARE Founded in 1945. Humanitarian organization with the goal of fighting global poverty by placing special focus on poor women in an effort to improve basic education, prevent the spread of disease, increase access to clean water and sanitation, improve economic opportunity, and protect natural resources.
• CAWST: Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology Founded in 2001, CAWST is a Canadian charity and licensed not-for-profit professional engineering consultancy working to address the global need for safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene in developing countries. CAWST reaches people in need by working with the thousands of existing, in-country organizations to start or improve their water and sanitation projects.
• charity: water Founded by 2006. Funded by private donors, foundations, and sponsors. Founded on the promise that 100% of donations go directly to the field to fund water projects, such as construction of freshwater wells, rainwater catchments and sand filters.
• Circle of Blue Founded in 2000 by journalists and scientists. Provides on-the-ground information about the world's resource crisis with a special focus on water and its relationship to food, energy, and health. Goal of spurring new methodology in science, innovation, and response by informing academics, governments, and the general public.
• Clear Water Initiative Founded in 2007 by Benjamin Sklaver. US-based NGO that promotes simple, sustainable solutions to provide clean water in northern Uganda. Funds establish and innovate clean water solutions, such as borehole repairs, protected springs and well drilling, with emphasis on community involvement and training.
• Clean Water for Haiti Founded in 2001. Produces and distributes biosand filters in Haiti, primarily for households in and around the Artibonite valley.
• Dig Deep (Africa) Founded in 2007. UK Based NGO which works with communities and schools in South West Kenya to provide them with access to water, sanitation, and deliver hygiene training.
• DIGDEEP Water Founded in 2011. Leads water access projects, as well as education and advocacy programs in order to work towards a goal of defending access to water as a human right. 100% of donations fund the water projects.
• Drop in the Bucket Founded in 2006. Los Angeles based with field offices in Uganda and South Sudan. Build wells and sanitation systems at large rural schools in sub-Saharan Africa.
• The Gender and Water Alliance Established at the Second World Water Forum (WWF) in March 2000. Mission is to promote women's and men's equitable access to and management of safe and adequate water. Special emphasis on gender, social justice, and human rights. Funded by the governments of the Netherlands and United Kingdom.
• Generosity.org Founded in 2008 by Philip Wagner of Oasis Church Los Angeles. The mission of Generosity.org, is to break the cycle of poverty, restore dignity, and inspire dreams. The spirit of generosity is not only about being generous, but empowering and equipping others to become generous. Key areas: water & sanitation, medical aid, education, family support, mentorship, economic development, legal assistance, and disaster relief.
• Generosity Water Founded in 2008. Donations are pooled to fund well projects villages in need, in which a committee of locals is formed and trained in business management, pump maintenance, hygiene and sanitation. The well is built with the involvement of the village and de-worming medication is distributed.
• Global Water Founded in 1982 by former U.S. Ambassador John W. McDonald and Peter Bourne. Since its formation, Global Water has worked with water supply projects in a variety of roles to accommodate local conditions, and has transitioned from an advocacy group into a project oriented organization. Strategies include construction of sanitation facilities to create safe waste disposal, construction of hygiene-related facilities for rural schools, and work to access, purify, and distribute new sources of safe water for rural villages.
• Global Water Foundation Founded by Johan Kriek in 2005. The organization's goal is to raise public awareness, contribute technical assistance and fund programs to improve water quality and provide adequate sanitation in schools, rural areas and other communities across developing nations.
• H2O For Life Founded in 2002 by Patty Hall, Maureen Haqq, and Val Johnson. Provides a service-learning opportunity for schools, youth groups, and faith-based organizations to raise awareness about water scarcity while taking action to provide funds for water, sanitation and hygiene education for a partner school in a developing country.
• Healing Waters International. Founded in February 2002 by Tom and Dana Larson. Empowers local ministry partners to bring physical, social, and spiritual transformation to poor communities by providing sustainable, safe water solutions. Uses the model: "Equip, Educate, and Empower".
• Hope Spring Founded in 2015 in Herefordshire, England. It works mainly in West Africa, where it helps water poor communities to access safe, clean water. The charity also conduct workshop and advocacy in sanitation and hygiene.
• Initiative: Eau Founded in 2013 by Donald Brooks and Christina Long. Dedicated to increasing the safety and quality of drinking water services in developing urban areas. Currently active in Burkina Faso, Niger, and Nigeria.
• International Medical Corps Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses. As part of its comprehensive approach to health, International Medical Corps prioritizes equitable, reliable access to clean water, the provision/improvement of sanitation facilities, and education of safe hygiene practices.
• IRC Founded in 1968. A think-and-do tank that thinks and acts in new ways to find long-term solutions to the global crisis in water, sanitation and hygiene services.
• Just a Drop Launched in 1998 at World Travel Market by Fiona Jeffery. Goal to reduce child mortality by delivering accessible, clean water through the construction of wells, boreholes, pipelines, hand pumps and latrines, while establishing health and sanitation programs. Independent, non-campaigning NGO that promotes local ownership of projects. Field operatives work directly with other charities, local partners and communities.
• Life From Water Founded in 2011, it's the first foundation in Egypt that specialises in water. The aim of the foundation is to provide poor people in neglected regions with clean, sustainable drinking water solutions and to empower them. In 2016, Life from Water foundation branched out to Germany.
• Lifewater Canada. Lifewater.ca is a Canadian water charity that drills wells in Haiti, Liberia, Kenya and Nigeria. Powered by volunteers working from home helps keep overhead under 10%. Donors are connected to villages in need and sponsor wells to make them affordable. Over the past 22 years, more than 800,000 people have been provided with safe drinking water.
• Lifewater International Founded in 1977 by William Ashe. Christian-based non-profit, with a focus on addressing the crisis through local communities. Trains volunteer field trainers in shallow well drilling, hand pump repair, biosand filtration, sanitation, community health, and WASH. Focused on long-term change and improved community health.
• Living Water International Founded in 1990. Christian-based and located in Houston, TX. Train, consult, and equip local people to implement clean water solutions in their own countries, specifically with shallow well drilling, pump repair, and hygiene education.
• Marion Medical Mission https://www.mmmwater.org Formed in 1985, MMM is a non-denominational Christian charity which has built over 35,000 wells in Malawi, Tanzania & Zambia. They have brought clean water to over 4 million people. Because of their maintenance program, over 91% of their wells are fully functional, making this a sustainable, low-cost solution to rural villages' water problems. Wells cost $450 and serve approximately 125 people.
• The Millennium Water Alliance Formed in 2003. Offers sustainable solutions through advocacy, shared knowledge, and collaborative programming. Major field programs to date operate in Ethiopia and Kenya, as well as four countries in Central America.
• Myra's Wells formed in 2006 (UK registered in 2011). Christian charity drilling boreholes in Burkina Faso. Working with pastors and church contacts, wells are provided in all parts of Burkina Faso. All money received goes directly to wells projects. Trustees pay all admin and other expenses.
• Office International de l'Eau Network of public and private organizations involved in the management/protection of water resources. Its mission is to educate, inform, manage, and cooperate in the field of water.
• Ok Clean Water Project Active since 2003. Based out of Ottawa, Canada, volunteers raise funds to support water delivery systems in Kumbo, Cameroon Africa and the surrounding villages. In exchange, the villagers volunteer their labor to build the infrastructure and receive training to manage/maintain the systems.
• Poured Out Inc Active since 2010. Funded by volunteers, donors, and foundations. Created to take water from life-threatening to life-giving with projects such as biosand water filters and large-scale water houses.
• Project Water for Life Founded in 2012. Project Water for Life drills and maintains wells in Africa. Their wells use locals to drill and pay for maintenance, allowing a sense of community involvement.
• Pump Aid-Water for Life Registered in the UK in 1998. UK-based NGO brings a new approach to aid and uses small-business models to work with entrepreneurs and communities so they can reach a point of self-reliance where they don't depend on anyone else. Winner of International Aid and Development Charity of the year 2017.
• Pure Water for the World Began in 1999. For rural areas, they focus on individual sand filters that go in each families home with an educational component, parasitic treatment, and follow-up monitoring. Also have constructed more large-scale community-based sand filters, use solar pasteurization, and rainwater harvesting programs.
• Relief Network Ministries, Inc. (RNM), a water crisis relief Christian Charity that provides access to clean water, medical aid, and job-skills training for local capacity building, and poverty reduction. RNM was founded in April 2001 in League City, TX USA and has since been working in Nigeria, Niger, Sierra Leone, and India through 3 Orphanages. By 2018, it has drilled and rehabilitated some 620 water wells serving about 2.5 million people plus their animals.
• Ryan’s Well Foundation Foundation formed in 2001. Canada-based charity founded by Ryan Hreljac after learning about clean water scarcity in 1st grade. Works largely with youth for fundraising and educational efforts
• Thirst Relief International Founded in 2005. Provides infrastructure development, training, and financial and technical resources to partners with the goal of improving people's long-term health in a cost-efficient way.
• UNICEF - WASH Approved by the UNICEF Executive Board in 2006. Objective is to contribute to the realization of children's rights to survival and development through support of national programmes that increase equitable and sustainable access to safe water.
• Voss Foundation Active since 2008. Norwegian NGO working in sub-Saharan Africa to help communities fulfill water requirements with a particular interest in assisting women and girls. Projects primarily involve a combination to well-digging/creation/rehabilitation, pumping, and piping.
• WASH Advocates Launched in 2002. Nonprofit, nonpartisan initiative with the goal of increasing awareness of WASH, catalyzing partnerships between foundations/ corporations/ nonprofits/ schools/ U.S. government, increase WASH advocacy in Washington D.C., and encourage more media coverage of WASH challenges and solutions.
• Water Access Now Founded in 2013 with an all volunteer board, Water Access Now's mission is to bring water to villages in Ghana, through education, sustainable programs, and local partners who share the vision to support over 9 million people in Ghana who lack predictable water.
• Water and Sanitation Program Multi-donor partnership administered by the World Bank that works directly with client governments at the local and national level. Their work helps to effect the regulatory and structural changes needed for broad water and sanitation sector reform.
• WaterAid Launched in 2009. Work with local partners and influence decision-makers to maximize efforts to improve access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation. Focus on promotion, support to governments and service providers, and advocation.
• WaterCan/ EauVive Charter established in 1987. Canadian-based charity that supports small scale community projects that are sustainable, low-cost and locally appropriate, emphasizes community ownership and self-help, and particularly involves women.
• Water For People Formed in 1991. Work to provide innovative solutions to water scarcity, while respecting the dignity of local people, using local resources, working with trusted partners, and experimenting with promising new ideas.
• Water is Basic Formed in 2006; Completed first well in 2008. A borehole drilling organization in the Republic of South Sudan birthed and led by Sudanese religious leaders. WiB has drilled over 500 wells and repaired 75 others.
• Water Is Life Concept formed in 2007. Distributes personal straw filters to partner villages and disaster situations to provide immediate clean water, provides hygiene and sanitation education in village schools, and implements long-term strategies.
• Water.org Founded as WaterPartners International in 1990. Driving the water sector for new solutions, new financial models, greater transparency, and local partnerships. Encourages community ownership, and selects technology based on local conditions. Works in Africa in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, and Uganda.
• Water to Thrive Founded in 2008 in Austin, Texas. Faith-based organization that raises money and awareness for water projects in Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania. Works with local NGOs to build the most effective wells.
• The Last Well Active since 2008. Christian-based non-profit working to provide clean water and the Gospel to the entire nation of Liberia.
• The Water Project Active since August 2006. Christian-based non-profit working with Burkina Faso, Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sudan, and Uganda. Use local labor and management, with the help of donated funds, to help dig wells, build small dams, collect rainwater, and filter water using Biosand water filtration systems.
• The Water Trust Started in 2008. Working to improve water, sanitation and hygiene in East Africa - specifically Uganda. Collaborates with local communities, government officials, and WASH NGOs
• Well Constructed Started in 2015. 100% volunteer run and 100% of public donations go directly towards the cost of well construction. Completed 47 wells in Ghana, serving over 30,000 people as of March 2019.
• Wells of Life. Started in 2010 out of Orange County, CA, this organization provides potable water by drilling wells in Africa - specifically in Uganda. Collaborates with local communities, government officials, and local drilling teams.
• Well Aware Founded in 2008 in Austin, Texas. Well Aware is providing innovative and sustainable solutions to water scarcity and contamination in East Africa. To date, Well Aware has implemented over 59 projects in Kenya and Tanzania, transforming more than 245,000 lives. Well Aware has a 100% success rate, meaning all projects are functioning and sustainable due to Well Aware's smart engineering and community-driven approach.
• World Vision provides clean water access to a new person every ten seconds. In 2016 alone, 4.6 million received clean water access; 3.3 million with improved hygiene, and 1.6 million with improved sanitation.
• Wells Bring Hope. Active since August 2008. WBH saves and transforms lives by drilling deep-water wells to provide safe, clean water to rural villages in Niger, West Africa.
• Water Wells For Africa. Active since 1996. Based in Redondo Beach, CA, WWFA provides deep-water wells in the poorest and most remote villages in south eastern Africa.
