Longview is a city in Gregg County, Texas, United States. It is the county seat of Gregg County. Longview is located in East Texas, where Interstate 20 and U.S. Highways 80 and 259 converge.

Longview was founded in 1870 when O. H. Methvin deeded 100 acres to the Southern Pacific Railroad for a right-of-way. The city was named for the "long view" from Methvin's home.
