The LAPD was formally established in 1869, making it one of the oldest police departments in the United States. Through programs such as the Community Police Advisory Boards (CPABs) and the Senior Lead Officer (SLO) program, the LAPD works to foster a sense of partnership and cooperation with the residents of Los Angeles.

Controversies and Reforms[edit | edit source]
