Louise McCullough
Louise McCullough is a renowned neurologist and stroke researcher. She is currently the Roy M. and Phyllis Gough Huffington Distinguished Chair and Professor of Neurology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). McCullough is also the director of the Stroke Program at UTHealth.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Louise McCullough was born and raised in Scotland. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology. McCullough then moved to the United States to pursue her medical degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Neurology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Career[edit | edit source]
After completing her residency, McCullough joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University. She later moved to the University of Connecticut Health Center, where she served as the Chief of the Division of Stroke and Vascular Neurology. In 2015, McCullough joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), where she currently serves as the Roy M. and Phyllis Gough Huffington Distinguished Chair and Professor of Neurology. She is also the director of the Stroke Program at UTHealth.
McCullough's research focuses on the pathophysiology of ischemic stroke, with a particular interest in sex differences in stroke. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has received several awards for her work, including the American Heart Association's Stroke Council Award.

Throughout her career, McCullough has received numerous awards and recognition for her contributions to the field of neurology and stroke research. These include the American Heart Association's Stroke Council Award and the American Neurological Association's Derek Denny-Brown Young Neurological Scholar Award.
