MIR517C
MIR517C is a microRNA that is encoded by the MIR517C gene in humans. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules that regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, playing a crucial role in various biological processes.

MIR517C belongs to the C19MC (Chromosome 19 MicroRNA Cluster), a large primate-specific microRNA cluster. This cluster is believed to have significant roles in placental and embryonic development. MIR517C, like other microRNAs, functions by binding to the 3' untranslated regions (3' UTRs) of target mRNAs, leading to their degradation or translational repression.
Clinical Significance[edit | edit source]
Studies have suggested that MIR517C may be involved in various diseases, including cancer. Abnormal expression of MIR517C has been observed in several types of cancer, suggesting its potential role as a diagnostic biomarker or therapeutic target. However, further research is needed to fully understand the clinical implications of MIR517C.
