Mac Studio‏‎ is a desktop computer developed by Apple Inc., announced on March 8, 2022. It is designed to fill the gap between the Mac Mini and the Mac Pro in Apple's desktop computer lineup. The Mac Studio‏‎ is powered by Apple's own M1 Max or M1 Ultra processors, which are part of the Apple silicon project.

Design[edit | edit source]

The Mac Studio‏‎ has a compact, square design, similar to the Mac Mini, but is slightly taller. It features a variety of ports for connectivity, including four Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, one HDMI 2.0 port, one 10 Gigabit Ethernet port, and an SD Card slot. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack and supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

Performance[edit | edit source]

The Mac Studio‏‎ is available with either the M1 Max or the M1 Ultra processor. The M1 Max version has a 10-core CPU and a 32-core GPU, while the M1 Ultra version has a 20-core CPU and a 64-core GPU. Both versions support up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 8TB of SSD storage. The Mac Studio‏‎ is designed for professionals who need high-performance computing, such as video editors, 3D artists, and software developers.

Software[edit | edit source]

The Mac Studio‏‎ runs on macOS Monterey, the latest version of Apple's desktop operating system. It supports all the latest macOS features, including Universal Control, which allows users to control a Mac and an iPad with the same mouse and keyboard, and FaceTime's SharePlay feature, which allows users to share their screen or watch movies and TV shows together.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The Mac Studio‏‎ has been praised for its performance, design, and the inclusion of a variety of ports. However, it has also been criticized for its high price, with the base model starting at $1,999 and the top-end model costing up to $7,999.
