  • Madison County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2010 census, the population was 43,435. Its county seat is London. The county was established on March 1, 1810, and was named for James Madison, the fourth President of the United States.

Geography[edit | edit source]

  • Madison County is located in the central region of Ohio. It is bordered by Union County to the north, Franklin County to the east, Fayette County to the south, and Clark and Greene Counties to the west. The county has a total area of 466 square miles, of which 465 square miles is land and 1.2 square miles is water.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

  • According to the 2010 census, there were 43,435 people, 16,642 households, and 11,840 families residing in the county. The population density was 93.5 inhabitants per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 94.7% white, 2.6% black or African American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% American Indian, 0.4% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 1.1% of the population.
