Malt-O-Meal Company

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Malt-O-Meal Company is an American producer of breakfast cereals, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The company was founded in 1919 by John S. Campbell, who initially started the business as the Campbell Cereal Company.

History[edit | edit source]

The company's first product was a hot wheat cereal called Malt-O-Meal, which gave the company its name. The Malt-O-Meal cereal was created as a low-cost alternative to the more expensive, nationally advertised cereals during the time of the Great Depression. The company's strategy of offering quality products at a lower price proved successful, and it has since expanded its product line to include a variety of ready-to-eat cold cereals.

In 2002, Malt-O-Meal Company purchased the cereal division of the Quaker Oats Company, adding brands such as Life Cereal and Captain Crunch to its portfolio. In 2015, the company was acquired by Post Holdings, a consumer packaged goods holding company.

Products[edit | edit source]

Malt-O-Meal Company produces a wide range of breakfast cereals, both hot and cold. Some of its most popular products include Coco Roos, Golden Puffs, and Frosted Mini Spooners. The company also produces a line of natural and organic cereals under the Mom's Best Naturals brand.

Sustainability[edit | edit source]

Malt-O-Meal Company is known for its commitment to sustainability. The company has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce its environmental impact, including the use of renewable energy sources, waste reduction, and the development of sustainable packaging.
