Minnesota
Minnesota is a U.S. state located in the Midwestern United States. Known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes", it is the 12th largest state in terms of area and the 22nd most populous.

Minnesota was inhabited by various indigenous peoples for thousands of years prior to the arrival of Europeans. The Dakota and Ojibwe/Anishinaabe were the largest groups in the region. The area was first explored by Europeans in the 17th century, with the French establishing the first permanent settlement. Minnesota became a U.S. territory in 1849 and was admitted as the 32nd state on May 11, 1858.

Minnesota is bordered by Canada to the north, North Dakota and South Dakota to the west, Iowa to the south, and Wisconsin to the east. The state's geography is defined by its vast forests, prairies, and over 10,000 lakes, including Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes.

Minnesota's economy is one of the largest in the U.S., with key sectors including manufacturing, services, and agriculture. The state is a leading producer of corn, soybeans, and hogs. Major corporations such as 3M, Target, and Best Buy are headquartered in Minnesota.

Minnesota is known for its strong Scandinavian and German heritage, which is reflected in its cuisine, festivals, and architecture. The state is also home to a vibrant arts scene, with institutions such as the Walker Art Center and the Guthrie Theater.

Minnesota is a U.S. state and thus has a government similar to that of the other 49 states. The state's government is divided into three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The Governor of Minnesota is the chief executive.
