Margie's Candies was founded by Peter George Poulos, a Greek immigrant who opened the original store at 1960 N. Western Avenue. The shop was named after his wife, Margie. Over the years, Margie's Candies has maintained its old-fashioned charm, with much of the original decor still intact, including the vintage booths, marble soda fountain, and Tiffany lamps.

While the original location on Western Avenue remains the most iconic, Margie's Candies has expanded to include a second location at 1813 W. Montrose Avenue. Both locations continue to serve the same beloved treats that have made Margie's a Chicago institution.
