Margie's Candies was founded by Peter George Poulos, a Greek immigrant who opened the original store at 1960 N. Western Avenue. The shop was named after his wife, Margie. Over the years, Margie's Candies has maintained its old-fashioned charm, with much of the original decor still intact, including the vintage booths, marble soda fountain, and Tiffany lamps.

The menu at Margie's Candies features a wide array of desserts and confections. Some of the most popular items include:
- Ice cream sundaes: Known for their generous portions and unique toppings, such as homemade hot fudge and whipped cream.
- Banana splits: A classic treat featuring scoops of ice cream, bananas, and various toppings.
- Milkshakes and malts: Made with rich, creamy ice cream and available in numerous flavors.
- Handmade chocolates: Including truffles, caramels, and chocolate-covered nuts.

Locations[edit | edit source]
While the original location on Western Avenue remains the most iconic, Margie's Candies has expanded to include a second location at 1813 W. Montrose Avenue. Both locations continue to serve the same beloved treats that have made Margie's a Chicago institution.
