Marlton Circle was a traffic circle in Evesham Township, New Jersey, located at the intersection of New Jersey Route 70 and New Jersey Route 73. The circle was a significant traffic hub in the region, facilitating the movement of vehicles between major highways and local roads.

History[edit | edit source]

The Marlton Circle was constructed in the mid-20th century as part of a broader initiative to manage increasing traffic volumes in the suburban areas of South Jersey. Over the years, the circle became notorious for traffic congestion and accidents, prompting calls for its redesign or removal.

Redesign and Removal[edit | edit source]

In the early 2000s, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) initiated plans to replace the Marlton Circle with a more efficient interchange. The project aimed to improve traffic flow and reduce the high incidence of accidents associated with the circle. The construction of the new interchange began in 2009 and was completed in 2011. The redesigned intersection now features a grade-separated interchange, allowing for smoother and safer traffic movement.

Impact on Local Community[edit | edit source]

The removal of the Marlton Circle and the construction of the new interchange had a significant impact on the local community. The project improved traffic conditions, reduced travel times, and enhanced safety for motorists. Additionally, the redesign facilitated better access to local businesses and residential areas, contributing to the economic development of Evesham Township and surrounding regions.
