Martin Dobkin

Martin Dobkin is a Canadian physician and politician. He served as the mayor of Mississauga, Ontario, from 1973 to 1976. Dobkin was the first mayor of Mississauga after it was incorporated as a city.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Dobkin was born in Toronto, Ontario. He completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto in 1962. After graduation, he moved to Mississauga, where he started his medical practice.

Career[edit | edit source]

In 1973, Dobkin entered politics and was elected as the first mayor of the newly incorporated city of Mississauga. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the development of the city's infrastructure and public services. He served as mayor until 1976.

After his political career, Dobkin returned to his medical practice. He has also been involved in various community and charitable organizations in Mississauga.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Dobkin is married and has three children. He continues to live in Mississauga.
