Mechanicsville is an unincorporated community located in St. Mary's County, Maryland, United States. It is situated approximately 30 miles southeast of Washington, D.C. and 60 miles south of Baltimore. Mechanicsville is known for its rural charm, historic sites, and friendly community.

Mechanicsville was founded in 1837 and was named after the many mechanics and craftsmen who settled in the area. The community grew rapidly due to its proximity to the Patuxent River and the establishment of several mills and factories. During the Civil War, Mechanicsville played a significant role as a supply center for the Confederate Army.
