Medical Library Association (MLA) is a professional organization for health information professionals and libraries in the United States. Founded in 1898, the MLA provides a platform for health information professionals to share knowledge and expertise, and to promote the improvement of health information services.

The Medical Library Association was established in 1898 by four librarians and four physicians in Philadelphia. The association was created with the aim of improving the quality of health information services and promoting the professional development of its members.

The mission of the MLA is to enhance the quality of healthcare, education, and research in the field of health information. This is achieved through the promotion of excellence in the management and delivery of health information services.
