Meeting
A meeting is a gathering of two or more people that has been convened for the purpose of achieving a common goal through verbal interaction, such as sharing information or reaching agreement. Meetings may occur face-to-face or virtually, as mediated by communications technology, such as a telephone conference call, a skyped conference call or a videoconference.
Types of meetings[edit | edit source]
Meetings can be categorized in various types, including:
- Ad hoc meeting: A meeting called for a specific purpose or task.
- Board meeting: A meeting of the board of directors of an organization.
- Committee meeting: A coming-together of a defined subset of an organization.
- Staff meeting: Typically, a meeting between a manager and those that report to the manager.
- Team meeting: A meeting among colleagues working on various aspects of a team project.
- Town hall meeting: An informal public gathering.

A typical meeting structure includes:
- Agenda: A list of meeting activities in the order in which they are to be taken up.
- Minutes: A written record of everything that was said and decided during a meeting.
- Chairperson: The person who presides over the meeting.
- Quorum: The minimum number of members that must be present at the meeting for it to be valid.
