Megaherz is a German Neue Deutsche Härte band formed in Munich in 1993. The band's name translates to "Mega-heart", though it can also be a play on the word "megahertz". Megaherz has gone through several changes in musical style since their founding. Initially, they were part of the Neue Deutsche Härte (NDH) movement, which includes bands like Rammstein and Oomph!. However, over time, Megaherz's style has incorporated elements of industrial, electronic, and even pop influences.

History

The band was formed by singer Alexander "Alexx" Wesselsky, guitarist Marc Bredtmann, bassist Josef Kalleder, drummer Tobias Trinkl, and keyboardist Christian Scharinger. Their first album, Herzwerk, was released in 1995. Despite a modest start, the band gained a significant following within the NDH scene with their powerful live performances and the release of their second album, Kopfschuss, in 1998.

In 2003, after the release of their fourth studio album, Herzwerk II, Alexx Wesselsky announced his departure from the band to form Eisbrecher with guitarist Noel Pix. This led to a period of instability, with several lineup changes before settling with a new vocalist, Mathias "Jablonski" Elsholz, who was later replaced by the current lead singer, Alexander "Lex" Wohnhaas, in 2007.

Musical Style and Themes

Megaherz's music is characterized by the use of heavy guitar riffs, electronic synthesizers, and deep, commanding vocals. Lyrically, the band often explores themes of love, pain, and societal issues, presenting them in a metaphorical and sometimes controversial manner. Their style has evolved from the aggressive tones of early NDH to a more melodic and diverse sound, incorporating elements from various genres while still maintaining a hard-edged core.
